In 1963, 200,000 people participated in a peaceful civil rights rally in Washington, D.C., where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
I found this on the New York Times website. I just thought I'd give a shout out to one of the coolest moments in United States history.

I found that I still have your blog site on my computer at school. Posting the newspaper headlines about the March on Washington brought back so many memeories. This was the summer after my first year in college. I am not sure that. While I never marched, my sympathies were with those who did. Funny, eight years later, I was posted to the area of the Pentagon as a military officer who was involved in providing military assitance for security during the War Protests in Washington.
I wish that I could see the degree of commitment from any groups of people that were exemplified by these rallies. Maybe we have accomplished what they were basically about, but there is other work to be done.
