Why some republicans suck...

The following load of crap ended up in my inbox today from one of my more conservative church members, despite repeated attempts on my part to ask him not to send me such hateful propaganda. My "favorite" part is when they make fun of Ted Kennedy, because, you know, having a life-threatening brain tumor isn't enough. Anyway, this is the kind of crap that makes me never ever ever want to listen to a damned word a republican says:

I'm having trouble getting over the fact that a church member sent this to you. Wow. The whole thing is disturbing on too many levels.

wow...I agree with jerilyn and kerri. I think there's something deeper going on here, something that goes beyond Republican/Democrat.

it's this extreme fundamentalist self serving, self-righteous condescending attitude that treats everyone else who doesn't agree with them like morons. or lies and makes fun of others to prove a point.

we're kind of seeing it with these idiot Democrats for McCain groupies as well as some of the crazy Democrats.

And I kind of feel like the Republican party is not the same as it used to be. I'm not sure Bush and McCain truly reflect the views of most Republicans or what the Rep party stood for a long time ago.

When you got a 32 percent approval rating as president, you gotta figure that not all 32 percent are Republicans and not all 68 percent are democrats.

And yet it's the extremist fundamentalists conservative, right wing nuts, followers of Rush Limbaugh that get all this voice time on air, email, internet...

bleeeeehhhhhh

ok, i'm done with my soap box rant now.

Gosh Alan, why are you making such a big deal about this?

I love racist, xenophobic, fear-mongering.

Don't be down on the republicans. They are way progressive. They are nominating a woman as VP. She has absolutely no qualified experience, but who really care about leadership credentials as long as there are enough X chromosomes and the physical ability to survive 4 years in office?

Oh, and I would really like to go to the 1150 event.

This is Shelli, by the way - not hip enough to have a blogger account.

I too have a ultra-Republican friend who sends me things like this, though not that bad. But I've also seen a lot of just-as-bad Bush-bashing over the last few years as well. And some very left-wing radio shows, too. (And my very left-wing sister-in-law...)
There are goals of each party that I like and behaviors and statements of both parties that I cringe from. But it seems to me the worst thing is the fanaticism on members of either parties part; both sides try to dehumanize the other side, distort the bad of the other side into the horrible, while ignoring the bad of their own.
Sadly, I don't think it's changed much since the days of bread and circuses...
